
Panther and Carpet Chameleon Care Guide
Cage
All glass, screen, or hybrid (glass and screen) terrariums, with a minimum size of 18x18x36″; for carpet chameleons 16x16x30″, the larger the better. If using glass, it MUST be a terrarium designed for reptiles; avoid fish tanks.
Lighting & Temperature
UVB Lighting: Use a T5 HO UVB light for 12 hours daily (5-12% output based on enclosure height).
Daylight Exposure: Full-spectrum artificial lighting or natural sunlight, 12 hours per day.
Basking Spot:
Maintain a temperature in the low 80s°F (27-30°C).
Limit basking sessions to 1 hour, twice daily.
Daytime Temperature: Mid 70s°F (21-23°C).
Nighttime Temperature:
Ideal: Below 20°C (60s°F).
Maximum: Low 70s°F (20-22°C).
Humidity & Hydration
Daytime Humidity: 50-70%.
Nighttime Humidity: 100%, achieved through nighttime fogging.
Hydration Methods:
Mist in the morning and evening. Use an automatic mister or hand mist bottle (Dollarama)
Use a fogger or humidifier at night to maintain humidity.
Provide a dripper for additional hydration. (optional)
Diet & Supplementation
Food Options:
Feed insects only: Crickets, Soldier Flies, Roaches.
Avoid vegetables and fruits.
Feeding Frequency:
Juveniles: Unlimited food intake.
Adults: Up to 2 crickets per day.
Supplements:
At every feeding: Plain calcium and bee pollen.
Every two weeks: Calcium with D3 and a multivitamin. (Repashy calcium plus is recommended as a multivitamin)
Cleaning & Maintenance
Daily: Remove uneaten food and waste.
Sanitize hands before and after handling chameleons or cleaning the enclosure.
